Meet Our Founder

WESLEY OMOREGIE—author, Speaker, Pastor, and Counselor—is passionate about helping vulnerable people. He is the founder of Step of Jesus Ministry, California, USA, a faith-based organization that helps connect people living with drug addiction problems with free treatment and rehabilitation. His passion is born out of losing his uncle to drug addiction. Wesley is an American-based immigrant who believes anyone can become anything through Christ. He was raised by his grandfather, who was a staunch Catholic and a disciplinarian. This made his upbringing difficult and a bit traumatic. They were taught to obey all instructions from Grandpa, who forced everyone to attend Church. So he was baptized and confirmed in the catholic and knew about Jesus at a very young age. However, he became a Pentecostal Christian in College after having an encounter that would change his entire view about the power of God.

This encounter happened in December 1989 when he honored an invitation to attend a Pentecostal conference organized by some Scripture Union students. A touch from a man of God led him to start speaking in tongues immediately. That was what made him a Holy Spirit-conscious believer. However, Wesley would attend their family’s Catholic church during the holidays and a Pentecostal church during school sessions. He dared not let his grandpa know that he speaks in tongues or that he goes to a Pentecostal church.

He became fully Pentecostal after he married his wife in 1998. He started as a classroom teacher after College, teaching Mathematics and Economics in high school. He then became a politician after losing his job to a retrenchment exercise by the then government of his state in
Nigeria, his homeland. He won the election as councilor to the local council and would become the speaker or Leader of the Legislative arm. He, however, had another encounter with Christ in 2004 that would lead to his becoming a Minister of God. Wesley is married to Rosemary Omorege and has four children and a grandson.
